I love Barbara Walters. Last year I had to write an essay about a "legend". Her and Bono were the only people on the list I was interested in, so I took her. It was amazing doing research about her. She was a pioneering female journalist, and personally I find her worthy of the list I'm about to present.
Tonight, Barbara revealed her most fascinating people of 2010. I agree, yet don't.
Her list included:
-Mark Zuckerburg
-Justin Bieber
-Jennifer Lopez
-Jersey Shore Cast
-Lebron James
-Sandra Bullock
-Betty White
-Kate Middleton
-Sarah Palin
-David Petraeus
I'll just go in order of whether I agree or not.
-Mark, you deserve it...you made Facebook, which is ironic because I just posted about wishing I had a facebook. I agree with Barbara
-Justin Bieber...well I do think he does have a good voice, but I don't like his personality too much. He won some award for his song "Baby". Ok, congrats...but Ludacris helped and he didn't give him any credit. Really? And I think he's letting the fame get to his head a little too much, but not as much as most, which I give him credit for. Considering his fame, though, I agree with Barbara.
-Jennifer Lopez...ok she's the new American Idol Judge? Big deal. Disagree.
-Jersey Shore cast-believe me...I'm not thinking that these people are cool by any means...but I do agree with Barbara's decision because a lot of people are intrigued by these people. Listening to them talk was just so funny though. I mean...something "Snooki" said was like "what the heck!?!?!" But I do think it was a good decision.
-Lebron James? Really? Disagree.
-Sandra Bullock. Agree. I loved the Blind Side, and her year has been crazy. Agree with Barbara.
-Betty White. She's so cute! I love old people! ...sort of....only some of them. However, unlike some, I've had mostly good experiences with the elderly folk I've met. Anyways...Betty White is so lively for 88....I agree with Barbara.
-Kate Middleton. Ok, yeah it's cool that she's engaged to Prince William...but none of us want to hear about the woman who took him from his millions of other girlfriends. And it's not even that reason, but I just don't think she's that fascinating. Don't agree with you, Barbara.
-Sarah Palin. Wow.....seriously. I can remember way back in 7th grade asking my social studies teacher during 9th Period: "hey, who did John McCain pick for his VP candidate?"
"the governor of Alaska...Sarah Palin or something like that". I was just like why her? Nobody knows her! Now I'm thinking "why her--everybody thinks she's crazy!!" Honestly, I think absolutely nothing of her politically, but as a person....just wow. I don't even know what to say about her. But believe it or not, she's still kind of fascinating. Agree with Barbara.
-David Petraeus...I SWORE he retired a year or so ago..but I guess I was wrong. He was named the most interesting person of 2010. I mean, he is really high up in the military and is doing some good stuff in Afghanistan I guess, but why him? I don't really find him fascinating. He's a good guy, but not really fascinating. I don't know, that's just my opinion and I disagree with Barbara.
But when I think about it, I can't really think of better people to put in. The only one that comes to mind (and I'm going to hate myself for this later) is George Clooney. I don't think he's good-looking at all, but he went all-out for Haiti back in January, and is crazy about helping starving African Children. I think he's kind of fascinating. Really at the moment, he's the only person who she probably should've put on the list.
But believe me, there are many, many fascinating people out there-they just haven't done anything worthy in 2010.
Loving my old English essay about Barbara,
-bowler :)
