So for intro journalism, I had to write an editorial about the school getting rid of SRT. My whole group was against it, except me. So here I go to write what I think is good.
Btw-this won't be a formal editorial...it's my opinion on my blog. Interpret as you will.
So, LC has gotten rid of SRT. BOO HOO!
Personally, being the overachiever that I am, I'm happy.
Now I don't have to worry about forcing my mom to take me to summer school so I can get 52+ credits to graduate cum laude or whatever those fancy Latin words are.
As my teacher pointed out, you can graduate sooner because you can get your 46 credits faster. I find that as an advantage. That means that instead of having 3200 kids at this school, there will probably only be about 2900 because EVERYONE knows that half the kids that can graduate early will.
Going back to my overachiever-ness, I love this because now I can take psych next year!
My current SRT teacher thinks that I'd be good at it and I think it'd be a cool class to take. So now, with an 8th class available, students don't have to take boring state requirement classes, they can take boring ones AND fun ones more geared towards their career. I mean, I totally skipped taking a fine art this year because I wanted to take journalism. And Thanks Department of Education, for not considering journalism an art anymore.
That's my rant. I'm siding with a school decision for a change.
Also, I wanted to say that sadly the girl's bowling team lost yesterday to Merrillville. But on the happy side, there's still time to buy your tickets!!! $5! For a good cause!!
-bowler :)
Amen sister! Good blog. I'm sorry the bowling team lost. I was on the Ball State bowling team for one whole tournament! They made me wear a skirt and I had to bowl like 7 games in a row. I like bowling on the Wii much better!
