I have many things to say about The Lord of the Flies.
For one, the ending sucked. Ralph is getting chased by savages, then a naval officer comes and asks how many are on the island. That's basically the ending.
And this book has WAY too much symbolism in it! Instead of writing a fiction book, just write a freakin' philosophy book!
And then the underlying religious factor in this...ugh.
Ok, did you know that The Lord of the Flies translates into devil? Well now I do!
And there's 23 parallels between the novel character and a biblical character..and personally I don't agree with Golding's choice of novel character to portray the biblical character...but whatever....
It's snowing fairly hard outside.
Anyone else smell 2 hour delay?

Crazy Crazy Stuff
Well.....bowling drama sucks.
Our team had sectionals today...and we didn't make it out. This is kind of upsetting. I did enjoy my day, though. I met more people, and found myself congratulating the other team on their victory.
I want to post something inspirational about this situation...but nothing is coming to mind.
You know, it's upsetting that we didn't make it on. I'm kind of upset. But then again...I don't care as much as I probably should.
It's just not sinking in yet. I've been tied down to this team at least twice a week since September. And now it's all done.
It's done...now what do I do with my life...?
Loving how I fell flat on my face and the guy who I tripped behind didn't say a word,

Today
So today just sucked.
Let's see...I had pool class. 'Nuff said.
Then in Biology we made babies. Haha....we DREW babies.
Mine were pathetic...but it was actually kinda fun.
But English. Really the class itself wasn't so horrible, it just occurred in that class.
Basically, a conversation went from needing to fill a gap in my schedule to re-thinking journalism. COME ON! First I had to re-think Notre Dame, but now I have to re-think journalism? Why can't I just go on my merry way without having to rethink my dreams?
Loving how "skilled" I am at drawing babies,

NICOLAS CAGE!

Mmmmm....gorgeous!
Wait...that's not Apolo Ohno......
IT'S NICOLAS CAGE!
Ok,
So my friend and I are obsessed with Mr. Cage for no particular reason. But to clarify...I do not think that Cage is in any way shape or form gorgeous.
Somehow, she found this other blog, where they photoshop Nicolas Cage's face onto a bunch of other people's faces.
I'm literally addicted to this blog.
Seriously.
I've been on there for 2 hours. In 2010 alone, there were over 700 posts. I've seen every one of 2010.
But still, I'm promoting it for whatever reason.
So here, The 2nd Greatest Blog Out There (besides mine)
Enjoy!

Ugh.
I'm just really mad right now.
People either A) don't know how to count or B) have no faith in JV bowlers.
I just wasted 7+ hours of my life for pretty much nothing. All I did was stand and cheer on the people who are "good". What was my reward? A medal for NOTHING.
Really....everything about this is just messed up.
Just saying.
Loving how within 2 hours, 4 can magically turn into 7.

Just Another Post...
I feel like I haven't posted in weeks.
Really, there's been nothing to blog about.
I am now in the scheduling process. Ugh. I have one more class period that needs filling, and I just don't know what to take. I've got it down to AP Psychology, Theater Arts, or AP U.S. History (yeah...THAT I can take as a sophomore, but I can't take regular or Honors U.S. History until I'm a junior. That makes sense.)
I'm pretty sure that I'm not taking AP U.S. History. At Notre Dame, U.S. History is really intertwined with their journalism program, so I should probably take it. But the thing is, I heard it takes A LOT of writing, and probably a lot of out-of-school work.
I just don't have time for that.
My friend says I have to prioritize.
Hm, let's see out of school all I do is
-Bowling: which I have to stay with because I love bowling an need a scholarship
-(Come next year)Squiver stuff: Well let's see, that's what I want to do in the future, so I think I need to keep that going in High School.
-Homework: does that really need an explanation?
-Sleep: well I need to sleep to function. But when I get home after school, I'd say that I sleep about 2 days out of the week. Then I wake up, eat, do homework, and go back to bed.
Now a lot of people would tell me that that's stupid, but answer this:
What if everyday, like clockwork, YOU got a headache? EVERYDAY PEOPLE!
In 7th grade, somewhere around 9th hour it'd come.
In 8th grade, it'd be somewhere around 7th or 8th hour.
Now in 9th grade, it comes around 3rd/4th hour (which would equal about 6th-7th hour in middle school)
I mean, this is just expected now.
At the beginning of the year, they were INTENSE in English, and I'd put my head down on the desk for literally 5 seconds, then be picked on for an answer. But it'd always be funny when I'd come back with it within 3 seconds. But then going from a head-down to head-up position really quick makes the pain increase. Yeah.
Well my daily headache is still chilling out in my head.
Yes. Mid-way through 3rd hour.
All of Intro.
The whole bus ride from my school that releases at 2:09 to arrive at home at 2:45.
Watching 2 episodes of Gilmore Girls before falling asleep.
Eating dinner after naptime.
Watching about 3 more episodes....and I was about to hit a good one where Rory almost gets beat up by a ballerina for writing a harsh review of her in the Yale Daily News. But no, my mom had to watch General Hospital. Fine, whatever.
Oh, but what I was getting to--I had so much free time in middle school!
I could read for fun. I was an organizational freak. I was a sudoku master. I was a computer addict, though.
Oh my gosh. I just looked at the Weather Channel desktop thing I have. It's 1 degree outside.
1 degree!
With the windchill it feels like -8!!!!!!!! GEEEEEZ!
Wow, this post was extraordinarily long, so I'll end it now.
Any advice about scheduling or headache prevention? Comment!
Loving it when you accidentally make somebody hate you, but it's just funny because of the circumstance,

P.S. I just thought of something after writing this, but don't feel like going back and finding an appropriate place to throw it in: Yes, I did take a Tylenol a little while ago...I'm still in pain. Just saying.

The Shock of 2011 (so far!)
Yesterday, I was given a book in English class titled "The Lord of the Flies." I started it today, and it's really not that bad.
I MIGHT ACTUALLY LIKE A BOOK THIS YEAR!!!
Who'd woulda thought THAT would happen.
Well, I'm not gonna ramble anymore, because I'm starting to think that people find it annoying. I believe I already addressed the topic of me being annoying, so instead of repeating myself, I'll just tell you to find it yourself in like November posts probably.
Ok, well I already know who my pick is for American Idol this year. Travis from the Bronx :D

STUPID COLLEGES!
So with everything I've been thinking about, I've been checking out colleges.
That should probably be the last of my worries, but no, I've put it to my "let's do this now instead of my project for Intro!" list.
So it had always been Notre Dame...with the exception of any bowling school that might want me like Valpo or Marian University.
Well I was exploring their websites for their bowling programs when my mom calls me downstairs to watch the Pro Bowlers with her. Before the commercial, they said something about Arizona State and female high school bowlers.
When they came back, they said that one of the pros was the men's assistant bowling coach, and would be the women's if they could recruit 2 more girls. They finished with something about "girls--if you're looking into bowling collegiately, check out Arizona State."
I questioned my mom and said "you really are gonna send me to Arizona?"
"No."
"Exactly. Thanks for wasting my time. Well now I have to check out Arizona! You know...just to see their journalism stuff."
I decided to be stupid, and I just checked out the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State.
It looks amazing, of course.
And they have free bowling in their student center, The First Amendment Center.
Of course they do.
But now I'm freaking out about scholarships. Like, majorly.
I mean, I will need academic scholarships INTENSELY if nobody wants me for bowling.
And what people don't understand is that for a bowling scholarship, people have to notice you--in other words, YOUR COACH HAS TO ACTUALLY PLAY YOU and they will see for themselves. But with academics, you have to seek attention via a piece of paper...along with 85,000 other kids. So chances of me getting a much-needed scholarship aren't as happy.
Thank you, Illinois, for not getting your education funds settled and taking from hard-working teachers paychecks.
Well, there was my hourly rant about school.
Loving the thought of Arizona State,

Crazy Bowling Shot
So, being the bowling freak that I am, I was on the state's United States Bowling Congress site.
I stumbled across this video, and I just had to share this.
It's freaking insane!
Although honestly, I think you can just skip to 0:50 to watch--before that is just boring.
And while I'm on the subject of bowling, I just want to point out that last Saturday was not only historic in the political world, but also in the bowling world.
Bob Kammer, Jr. shot a 900 series in Merrillville. That's 3 consecutive 300 games!!! And basically, the absolute best thing you can do in bowling.
He's only the 19th guy to do this with USBC sanctioning. 19th! And he's the 1st in Indiana.
That's also freakin awesome.
And the funny thing--about 5 hours before he bowled that, I was at the bowling alley bowling in my own tournament. I bowled horribly.

Teachers
I went to my mom's school today.
I am never going to be a teacher. If there were any outlying thoughts that maybe I should be--those are gone. Education = not my career.
I did, however, gain some respect for teachers today. However, I must inform you that the kids there are less controlled than what we see in the halls of any school in our corporation.
Some events today include: me realizing that even if I can get a B+ in Geometry and an A- in Algebra I, I cannot teach fractions to fifth graders. At all.; kids not knowing how to close their mouths the second, third, fourth time; a toilet seat being broken. Yes, a toilet seat; and someone pulling a chair out from underneath a girl.
That's just some of today's events.
So teachers, now I know how much your job can suck. And how draining it can be. I came home, fell asleep at 7. I woke up half an hour ago, ready to just go upstairs and go back to bed, but I wanted to post. So now I'm done, and going to bed early.
Good night all!

Finals: Day 4
Well, I officially have completed one semester of high school.
I didn't have a final in 5th hour, because it was gym and we just literally sat around for 90 minutes.
Then I had SRT. I finished coloring a picture I started during gym. Ha ha, and I critiqued news articles...because I'm just that crazy now.
I did the same thing during Geometry's 90 minutes of nothing-ness, and this kid goes "do you enjoy doing that?" and I'm like "No, this is just a side-effect of taking Intro Journalism." So true.
Finally, came the World History final. 98%. It should of been a 99, but I changed this one answer even though it was right. I was not too happy when my test came back. But you know what, as Apolo Ohno would say: Zero Regrets. I started the autobiography he wrote with the same title: Zero Regrets. I have a feeling that it will be very inspirational to me. But of course, I probably won't finish it until AFTER bowling season, when it won't really be of much relevance.
Well, I finished this semester with 3 A's, an A-, 2 B+'s, and a pending Biology grade.
Not too bad....but not what I had initially hoped for.
Yes. I'm a perfectionist. Deal with it.
So, I would enjoy my day off tomorrow, but no--I'm not allowed to. I have to go to my mom's school.

Finals: Day 3
Well, as you can now see, I didn't self-combust during my biology final. Although, somewhere around question 23 I started to feel things getting rocky. And I studied.I NEEDED an A on that! ...but I know I didn't get one. I'll be mad if the highest I can get on a final is a 93.
OH! Maybe I solved my insanity problem! All my friends are in smart people classes like me. I just can't have smart friends anymore I guess. It's too competitive. Heck, life is too competitive.
So my French final was today, too. Eh. Pretty easy...but toward the end there was a series of questions with words I've never seen in my life.
Tomorrow's the last, but not least World History final!
I heard it was super easy, and considering I have literally 5 hours of nothing tomorrow before the test, I just didn't study tonight. Instead, I shoveled snow. Again. But this time, I did it before my mom came home so she couldn't stand there and laugh at me.
Something I noticed yesterday but failed to mention:
Thanks to Intro, now when I read an article, I ALWAYS critique it. For example, I found about 3 errors in the high school bowling section of the Post-Tribune. And in other works outside the Post, I've found errors and not only in punctuation, but in FACTS!
Please people...do your fact checking!!
God....again I say: I'm only a freshman...this shouldn't be happening!
Well, once again it's late and I've watched an obnoxious amount of Gilmore Girls, so I'm tired.
Goodnight all!
Loving Apolo Ohno!

Finals: Day 2
I survived yet another day of finals.
Today was only Geometry Honors, though.
I think I did ok, but not 100%. That's for sure.
Tomorrow is my dreaded Biology test.
AGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHHGHGHGHGH!
I was studying with my friend and I'm like okay, I know NOTHING here!! The only way I can pass this final is if I have a mental breakdown in the middle of it and they take sympathy on me and say "you know what--you don't have to take it! We'll just give you an A!"
.....sounds somewhat plausible, right?
So yeah.
Then I have my French final. I'm not really worried.
I found out that I actually got a B+ on my English Final!! So my Semester grade is a B+.
I was a pretty happy camper. But then I remembered seeing the grades of the girl checking her RDS next to me in SRT...and my friend sent me her grades. That kind of brought me down a few notches.
I mean, Notre Dame is my DREAM. And of course, today was the day I watched the episode of Gilmore Girls where the crazy school freak isn't accepted into Harvard, her dream school. (Although, it is one of the best episodes).
But I mean, when I went to Notre Dame this summer, all the people in my group knew I was smart and were like "Oh, you'll make it in for sure." But now everybody's throwing it at me that the chances are too slim because "I don't know anybody". UGH! I'M A FRESHMAN! THIS ISN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN YET!!!
But on the lighter side,
My bowling match was cancelled for today, so I had more time to relax and do study guides.
Well, instead I shoveled snow. I kid you not, I was freezing out there, and I look to the house to see my mom laughing at me from inside.
It was fun.......and cold.
Well, time to get some sleep....I don't want my daily headache to come until after 2:09 tomorrow!

Finals: Day 1
Well, I have officially completed 2 of 6 finals of my freshman year.
My first final: journalism.
I'm sorry to people who think otherwise, but that was so easy!
It really just...ugh. I had to laugh afterwards. I mean, I stressed for nothing.
Then I sat back and watched all the people doing their blogs last-minute while I casually sat back, knowing that I was at a pretty good amount of blogs. But then again, instead of blogging, I did my Biology study guide :/
NOT FUN!
That final is Wednesday, and I think I might just spontaneously combust in the middle of it. Seriously. Biology might kill me. If English doesn't, that is.
Ugh. English.
Well, I got that out of the way today, too.
I might of gotten a D on that. The grammar probably killed me. And descriptions of people in Jane Eyre......what?!?! I read all 400-something pages of that book, and I'm pretty sure NONE of those things were said. And really, how could you study that? Re-read the WHOLE book and not know what quotes to look for? Ok, that's logical.
So then I came home, ate, and slept. I did a whole page of my World History study guide before remembering that I don't have to turn it in. Then I thought I should finish my Biology, but then I started talking with my mom about how crazy biology is. Then I went to my room to work on it, but got sidetracked when I realized something really stupid. So of course, I had to tell my friend. Then she made me go online and we web-chatted about World History. So at least I did get some of that guide done, and a little Bio, but you know what...SRT is something I'm going to take advantage of.
Geometry Final tomorrow. I need above a 100 to pass my own standards.
Well, actually, I can't meet my own standards. Even if I get 100, I still have a 91 in the class, which is an A- :( But if I get about a 90, then I can say "Yes! I finally lived up to someone's expectations!" But if I don't get a 90....then I owe my teacher a can of soda. :/
Yeah, I said "soda". I'm getting sick of the term "can of pop". There's this one episode of Gilmore Girls when they discuss this in depth: East Coast=soda; Chicago=pop. Just so you know.
By the way...I love Gilmore Girls!!!!!! It's a great show and it's a shame that it's done with and only in SYNDICATION (yes, I did just make a reference to class today.) Ha ha, I actually own all 7 seasons on DVD :) Today, I watched episodes from the third season. One of them was a favorite of mine, and there's a bunch of flashbacks. It's funny. I always find myself saying "that's my favorite episode!" But it's just too hard to narrow down to just one!!
Oh...it's almost 11. Perhaps I ought to um, you know...go to bed and get a good night's sleep for tomorrow's final!!
Loving today,
-bowler:)
My first final: journalism.
I'm sorry to people who think otherwise, but that was so easy!
It really just...ugh. I had to laugh afterwards. I mean, I stressed for nothing.

Thank you World
Today, the world was on my side. (We'll just pretend gym class and geometry never came about, though.)
So I got my ACT Explore Test results back--and I'm QUITE happy with them...an unusual thing.
And now I'd like to give a nice big thanks to my friend, the insider/messenger who delivered me some AMAZING news before my head exploded. You know who you are :)
Well, have a good weekend all!

On the Lighter Side...
Ok, my last post was rather depressing. So here's something funny: the list of every movie I've ever seen.
Don't worry-it's not that long.
Rudy, A League of Their Own, Toy Stories 1-3, Harry Potter 1-7, the Sound of Music, Shattered Glass, National Treasures 1&2, Knowing, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Hairspray, both Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Versions, The Princess Diaries 1/2, Freedom Writers, Star Wars 1-6 (I think), The Hey Arnold, Spongebob, and Rugrats Movies, 9, Easy A, The Wizard of Oz, A Christmas Story, Jane Eyre, the Charlies Brown stuff, the Blind Side, the Invention of Lying, Finding Nemo, Happy Feet, Cars, Post Grad, both Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants', Forrest Gump, Across the Universe, Troy, The Lion King, Cheaper by The Dozen 1/2, Billy Madison, and Juno.
Yeah, that's about it. I'm about 90% sure that's it.
I am aware that Aladdin, Mulan, Up, The Land Before Time, Elf, Avatar, and Newsies (if that's the correct title?) are absent from this list. That's accurate.
Yes, I am a bowling freak and I haven't seen Kingpin.
Yes, I am a White Sox fanatic yet I haven't seen Eight Men Out.
Yes, I am determined to go to Notre Dame yet....wait....I HAVE seen Rudy!
Yes, I AM A JOURNALISM NERD AND HAVE NOT SEEN NEWSIES!
But it's more fun that way :D
Yeah, I have my entire team and pretty much all of my friends thinking I'm crazy because of this. But like I said....it's kind of more fun this way.
Loving my movie list,

Sad, but True
This year I've had to confront something that I've never dealt with before.
I'm sure that a lot of people will agree when I say that it's one of the most awkward things when you're in the same class with or bump into someone in the hallway who was your very best friend in elementary/middle school.
It's really weird. I had this friend from 5th to 7th grade. We were absolutely best friends. Things happened, and we weren't friends anymore. Well, now I'm in a class with this person. Whenever we have to speak in front of the whole class and this person is speaking, all I can think is "Wow. We used to be best friends. Now....we barely talk to each other, much less acknowledge each others' existance."
Then today, when I was going up the stairs one of my good friends from 4th and 5th grade was walking right next to me. Maybe she really was oblivious, but I noticed her next to me.
I was about to write "But I'm not one to start a conversation with somebody I haven't talked to in years." But now that I'm thinking about it...maybe these people aren't either. But I doubt that all the friends I've have from 2nd grade to now are like this. Maybe this is what high school does to people. It makes them not care about old friends. It makes them think talking to people who you use to talk to all the time that are now "uncool" is just a dumb thing to do.
High School changes them.
Change...something that happens to everyone I suppose, in some way or another.
I'll be the first to admit it...I've changed a lot since I was friends with these people.
Heck, from 7th grade 'til now...I'm a lot more obnoxious. I'm a little more careless. I get mad easier than I used to. Frustrated too. I'm more hyper. I won't go as far as saying I'm an overall more positive person, but it's sort of true. I mean, I've come a long way from the 7th grade me.Yes, I know everything said before that kind of contradicted the positive statement...but you'd of had to know the 7th grade me.
But enough of that useless stuff....
I've been a little too boring and over-thinking things since break ended. Thank you finals...thank you very much.

...hey 2011
Here's my first post of 2011.
I was hoping it'd start out with a bang, but I was wrong (unless something great happens in the next 7 hours).
Well actually, my team got second today at a tournament.
Oh, sorry--I'm giving you the wrong impression. I didn't get 2nd; I don't count because I was on the B team. So more technically, the other bowlers at my school got 2nd. I just bowled.
Thank You 2011, for giving me the heads up that this January is going to go just as well as 2010's January,
